Merry Christmas & Happy New Year 2009

Christmas tree I'd like to take this time to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas.

This is a season of giving, peace, understanding and goodwill among all. I hope that this Christmas will find you among friends and family with good food, good times, and good memories. And I hope too that Santa lines the bottom of your Christmas tree with all the Amateur Radio goodies that it can hold!

Wish you a very happy new year, many nice DX contacts, a lot of pleasure with our hobby and see You in 2009 again!
HQ8R Swan Island Dxpedition PDF Print E-mail
HR2J Javier finally went on a reconnaissance trip to Swan Island today on a Honduran Air Force twin turbo prop. Radio Club of Honduras members including WQ7R/HR9 Ray, KC4CD/HR2 Lane, HR2DX Antonio, HR2DMR Daniel and HR2PAC Pedro will now participate in this special DXpedition, anyone else interested is more than welcomed to join the HQ8R team. We are planning to depart from port of Castilla in Trujillo bay on March 15th and return on March 23rd 2008 on a 91 foot Honduran Navy vessel with comfortable air conditioned accommodations. We are looking for 10 operators to be able to work two PHONE stations, one CW and one RTTY/PSK31 station (total of four stations).

We will take a HughesNet high speed internet satellite system to upload logs into our Website. Cost per participant is around 700USD, this will include meals and transportation from San Pedro Sula to the island and back to San Pedro Sula. This may be the last opportunity to work this islands they may become a penal colony (prison) and access would be denied. The Swan Island DXpedition Website is available now at www.hondurasdx.com soon we will have recent photos of Swan and of the ship. Cost of trip for the ship is 4,500USD so we hope to have enough participants and/or donations to make this trip possible, we need sponsors and are actively seeking funds.

Donations are being accepted now via PayPal. A 10USD donation gets you the QSL card direct, a 50USD or more donation automatically gets your name on the QSL card and a 100USD or more donation gets you the HQ8R T-shirt + hat combo, all donations will be very helpful and appreciated. We think that enough small contributions may make this Dxpedition possible.

73 to one and all from HR lands.
