Busy week in the QSL Managers office PDF Print E-mail
9M8Z QSL Last week we heard the sad news that M5AAV Graham Ridgeway became SK. Graham was very dedicated to the work of QSL Managing which he loved so much and was a highly respected QSL manager.

I received an email the next day from Steve Telenius-Lowe 9M6DXX asking if i would like to take over the QSL duties from Graham for many of the call signs that he was looking after. I agreed to take over QSLM of the following 9M6DXX and /P Steve, XU7DXX Steve, 9M6/G3OOK and 9M6XRO and /P John, 9M8Z, A25OOK, XU7XRO, V8FEO.

Steve had little time to talk as he was packing the car with radio gear to drive down to Sarawak to take part in the CQ PFX Contest as 9M8Z, which many of you may have heard over last weekend. I managed to work Steve on 20m, i heard him on Sunday morning on 15m and even briefly heard some ESP noises from Steve on 10m if only conditions were higher in the sunspot cycle. Steve ended up with 3100 QSOs in the log quite an amazing achievement for a Single Operator.

I have been in contact with a friend of Graham's family to collect the boxes of cards and the incoming mail. All this needs to be done with a degree of respect and the mail will be collected after Graham's funeral.

There are two new QSL cards that need to be designed and printed at this stage 9M8Z and 9M6XRO / P from OC-133. So i have been in communication with both Steve and John in East Malaysia to obtain the images and text to design the card which will be the usual high quality card from ON5UR QSL Print Shop.

The CQ PFX Contest gave us some excellent conditions particularly on 15m on Sunday to Central and South America and the West Indies region. Among those logged were VP2E Anguilla, V48M St Kitts & Nevis, 8P1A Barbados, HI3C Dominican Republic, VP2EFB Anguilla, V25V Antigua & Barbuda, 9Z4CT Trinidad & Tobago so the West Indies were certainly enjoying a good 15m opening. I didn't hear too much activity on 10m unfortunately this is a band i really enjoy.

So quite a busy few days here in the QSL Managers office. 73 de Tim
