9M6/N1UR and 9M6/KB1PQN, Spratly Island PDF Print E-mail
Ed N1UR and his xyl Christine KB1PQN are still expected to be active from Layang- Layang Island Resort, Spratly Islands (AS-051) between 0800z, March 22nd and 0000z, March 30th. The duo have already received their 9M6/N1UR and 9M6/KB1PQN licenses. Once they get permission from the Navy, they will apply for a special 9M0 callsign. Activity will be on 160-10 meters, CW and SSB. There will be a station on 160m or 80m CW from 1030-1300z and 2100-2300z daily.

At other times in darkness, they will be on various bands at different times. Sunset on Spratly is 1040z and Sunrise is 2240z by the middle of that week. Since omnidirectional verticals on the beach will be used, please be sure to check long path and short path for the strongest signals. The operators will be moving bands frequently to take advantage of any shorter band openings. They will only be using 100 watts.
