Topband with its wavelenght 160m is not very easy band. Dimensons of antennas are extensive. For MW9W contest crew I have prepared simple but effective antenna for 160m – the Inverted L antenna. It’s based on the material DK5WL „Invisible“ DX Antenna for the Low Bands.
I bought two fibreglass poles with total height 12,5m and prove the antenna in the IARU HF Championship with impressive result. Try it too!
The Inverted L antenna is simple quaterwave antenna with a shape of inverted L letter. Most transmitted energy is vertically polarized. That’s an advantage for DX contacts.

HF0POL is again QRV! Tomek SP3WVL has been on 40m CW from the Polish base of Henryk Arctowski, South Shetlands (IOTA AN-010) as HF0POL/LH.
HF0POL appears as a club station callsign used by many operators during different shifts. As operators change, QSL routes do, too. QSL cards for the current 2008 activity should go via Tomek’s home call (direct or via bureau). It is possible to send online qsl requests via email to: hf0pol (at) wp.pl by providing your QSO details.
Confirmations will be sent to you via bureau without any need to send any cards by mail. Note this option is valid ONLY for operations that took place ONLY by Tomek SP3WVL in 2000, 2005 and 2008. |

Lars DL9LB is about to leave for South Georgia for another scientific trip. He will spend most of October 2008 in Husvik (pron. hoos-veek) - the former Norwegian whaling station situated in the North-East of the island. Expect him working on the bands as VP8DIF - the same callsign he held during his previous trips to the far South Atlantic.
Lars will operate SSB/CW with 100 watts depending on his duties and propagation conditions. Keep in mind he will use battery packs only (there’s no running electricity nor water in Husvik) so he won’t be able to operate longer than a few hours a day.
