Merry Christmas & Happy New Year 2009

Christmas tree I'd like to take this time to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas.

This is a season of giving, peace, understanding and goodwill among all. I hope that this Christmas will find you among friends and family with good food, good times, and good memories. And I hope too that Santa lines the bottom of your Christmas tree with all the Amateur Radio goodies that it can hold!

Wish you a very happy new year, many nice DX contacts, a lot of pleasure with our hobby and see You in 2009 again!
Two voltages from the transformer PDF Print E-mail
Two voltages from one transformer By introducing a home made tube power amplifier into the life we will appreciate an advantage to set the anode lower than is in normal operation. Constructors are using regulation auto-transformer or transformer taps. But there is a very simple solution how to get two voltages from one transformer: switching a rectifier type.

See the schematic diagram left. In the first position is to transformer switched Graetz rectifier and DC voltage on the electrolytic capacitor is an AC voltage multiplied 1,41 (e.g. 100V AC x 1,41 = 141V DC). In the second position is switched full-wave rectifier, DC voltage on the electrolytic capacitor is an AC voltage multiplied 2,82 (e.g. 100V AC x 2,82 = 282V DC). So we could easily get two voltages from one transformer.
